My name is Bill McNamee. I am the President of Integrated Desktop Solutions, Inc., a Baltimore and Washington D.C. area technology and digital media consulting firm. I have a diverse background with an academic career in anthropology and archaeology and a professional career as an information technology and digital media professional.
I was born and raised in Aberdeen, Maryland near the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and spent my summers, as a kid and teen, on the Jersey Shore in Cape May, New Jersey. I attended Towson University, in Towson, Maryland, and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and concentrations in archaeology and ancient history.
I have travelled extensively in the United States and have lived and work in two main areas. The first is the Four Corners region of the Southwest and the second is the Mid-Atlantic area of the East Coast. Today, my home is Westminster, Maryland and I share it with my wife of 14 years and our three kids.
Professionally, my career has focused on technology and its use. I see myself as a generalist rather than a specialist and feel that gives me a unique perspective on how best to leverage technology as a tool for capturing, utilizing, and publishing information and content. As such, I see myself as a “creative” that both embraces and uses technology and digital media to innovate and originate.
Creatively, my passion is photography and, specifically, the convergence of digital photography and digital video to convey information and tell stories. It is a staple of both my personal and professional life and began many years ago while I was still in high school.
Back then, the medium was 35mm film, both black-and-white and color, and a chemical based darkroom. Today, it is digital with all the control and creative tools of a digital workflow and a digital darkroom. It was this passion for photography that led me to found Light Imaging Studios in 2005.
I hope you have found this bio an interesting and enjoyable read. If you would like to follow me on the Internet, please explore the links to the right. If you have comments, suggestions, or questions, feel free to contact me directly.
